South Australian Newsagent Dispute Resolution

South Australian Newsagent Dispute Resolution

The South Australian Government proposed and ultimately adopted a Newsagency Industry Dispute Resolution Code under which a newsagent could take a complaint regarding a publisher to the Ministry for Small Business. In January 2014, The Newspaper Works responded, arguing no evidence had been provided to indicate a need for such a code and the move, therefore, was a disproportionate response. It argued newsagents and publishers had proven themselves capable of resolving disputes without need for government interference, and that a dispute mechanism already existed within commercial agreements.
