South Australian Law Reform Institute: Too much information – a statutory cause of action for invasion of privacy

In February 2014, The Newspaper Works responded to an initiative to investigate invasion of privacy by the South Australian Law Reform Institute. The industry body observed a similar initiative was under way by the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC). It said that such work, regardless of validity, was most effective on a national platform as this would prevent publishers having to abide by multiple laws and codes on a state by state basis. As it did in response to the ALRC, The Newspaper Works stated that there was insufficient evidence to warrant any action.
