Counter-Terrorism Legislation Amendment (Foreign Fighters) Bill 2014

Media companies joined together in October, 2014, to respond to the Government’s counter-terrorism Bill. Most controversially, the legislation proposed the jailing of journalists for reporting on activities that government deemed could advance terrorism. Further, it proposed similar penalty for those who accepted and booked advertising that advanced terrorism. The response by media organisations was made under the collective group, The Right to Know. The Newspaper Works was part of this response.
